Company Overview

The client, a member of one of the world's largest financial services providers provides home improvement loans, bill consolidation loans, money for tuition, vacation getaways and unexpected expenses.

Business Challenge

The client works with several partners who generate and manage loan applications submitted by end customers. Partners expect to be able to transact with the client electronically, utilizing industry-standard protocols and techniques. In the simplest of scenarios, a partner may submit a loan application electronically and then be notified when a decision has been made.

The client sought a global technology solution to serve as the intermediary between the partner and the legacy host decision systems. Such a solution would be centrally managed and monitored and would also be configurable and extensible to adapt to the ever-changing needs of partners.

Solution

Sogeti USA, a Microsoft® Gold Certified Partner, was engaged to construct and deliver an Enterprise Service Bus based on Microsoft technology, including:

  • Microsoft BizTalk® Server 2004 to provide the on-ramps, off-ramps, core transformation and routing services at the heart of the client’s initiative. BizTalk Server serves as the primary conduit connecting partners to the decision facilities of the client.
  • Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000 running on the Windows Server™ 2003 operating system, both part of Windows Server System™ integrated server software.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio® 2003 for core application development.

The initial project targeted a subset of trading partners and exposed legacy application processing services (hosted on mainframe systems) via an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) powered by Microsoft BizTalk Server. An extensible, pluggable architecture was designed and built to allow for additions of multiple trading partners, as well as for the eventual replacement of key back-office systems. The solution delivered was built to process 12,000 individual application requests per day and is highly scalable to adapt to the client’s needs.
